Awards

  • eINDIA 2009 is a unique platform for knowledge sharing in different domains of ICT for development and facilitates multi-stakeholder partnerships and networking among governments, industry, academia and civil society organisations of different countries, including the host country- India. The objective is to bring together ICT experts, practitioners, business leaders and stakeholders of the region onto one platform, through keynote addresses, paper presentations, thematic workshops and exhibitions.

    In order to make the eINDIA event more effective and all encompassing, the organisers plan to confer eINDIA 2009 Awards to distinguished professionals and institutions working in the domains of:

    The eINDIA Award programme is held annually alongside the eINDIA conference proceedings. eINDIA Awards are open for all national and international government organisations, civil society organisations, bi-lateral, multi-lateral developmental organisations and enterprises who have transformed social development opportunities into a sustainable social enterprise through innovative use of ICTs. Apart from the general category of awards we have special categories for performers who manifest extraordinary achievements in different domains with individual capacity and efforts.

    The general categories of awards in each track are as follows:

    • Government / Policy Initiative of the Year
    • Civil Society / Development Agency Initiative of the Year

    The special category awards in each track are as follows:

    e-Agriculture: ICT Enabled Agriculture Initiative of the Year

    e-Governance:

    • Government to Citizens (G2C) Initiative of the Year
    • Government to Business (G2B) Initiative of the Year
    • Government to Government (G2G) Initiative of the Year
    • m-Governance Initiative of the Year

    Digital Learning:

    • ICT Enabled School of the Year
    • ICT Enabled University of the Year

    e-Health: ICT Enabled Hospital of the Year

    Telecentre: Innovative Grassroots Telecentre of the Year

    Municipal IT: ICT Enabled Municipal Initiative of the Year

    We are inviting willful nominations from individual participants, government organisations, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), private institutions and enterprise who have transformed social development opportunities into a sustainable social enterprises through innovative use of ICTs.

    Award Objectives:

    • To encourage institutions and individual leaders to use and apply ICT tools in various developmental and sector-specific projects
    • To identify and popularise emerging leaders and innovative projects from the different sectors of the development community, including the grass-roots organisations
    • To identify and felicitate a project that exemplifies the kind of implementation that can be easily replicated and at the same time proves efficient and sustainable, especially projects implemented in India and the South Asian region
    • To promote the most innovative initiatives in the domain of ICTs for Development
    • To spread awareness about the role of ICTs in addressing social concerns
    • To emphasise the instrumental effectiveness of ICT based applications

    Selection Criteria:

    Individuals and institutions who wish to nominate themselves for the eINDIA 2009 Awards need to furnish details about the projects they are involved with. The nominated projects will be evaluated according to the following criteria:

    • Economic cost and sustainability, stakeholder support
    • Gender parity, and other inclusiveness indicators
    • Impact on livelihoods and society in general
    • Demonstrable effects on the project target groups
    • Community initiatives and ownership
    • The measure of replication
    • Extent of collaboration

    eINDIA 2009 Awards would be decided by certain procedures and rules governing the evaluation of the entries. It is pertinent to be informed that the entire process of evaluation and reporting will be conducted according to certain norms and schedules. The call for nominations for the eINDIA 2009 Awards will be open till 15th July 2009. The Award selection process will go through a dual process of Jury as well as public voting system.The online voting starts from 1st August 2009 and closes on 20th August 2009. The selected winners will be felicitated at the Award giving ceremony of eINDIA 2009 conference.

    Selection Procedure:

    The selection procedure for award nomination is sequential.

    • The individual/institutions/project will be first nominated through an online form downloadable from www.eindia.net.in/awards
    • The individual/institutions/project will be verified and reviewed by a team of in-house reviewers. Any additional information, if required, will be asked for.
    • The individual/institutions/project will be evaluated according to the criteria mentioned above.
    • Evaluated nominations will be opened for online voting.

    Submission Guidelines:

    • All submissions must be made online in English, using the appropriate nomination form.
    • A project can be nominated in the name of the said project or concerned individual pivoting the project or the respective institutions endorsing the project.
    • All competing projects must either be completed or be at an eventual stage of development carrying contemporary relevance. The jury will only evaluate and compare projects that are contextual and bear measurable outcome and impact.
    • All mandatory indicated fields of the entry form must be filled out or else the jury will not evaluate the project.
    • Participants must illustrate how their use of ICTs creates new avenues for the cause of human and social development.
    • The project must be verifiable, i.e. able to present credible references from independent third parties.

    Important Information:

    • All nominations must be submitted by 15th July 2009 to be considered for the Award.
    • The Finalist will be announced and felicitated at the eINDIA2009 Conference venue at Hyderabad International Convention Centre during 25-27 August 2009.
    • All finalists will be notified directly.
    • It is expected that some of the innovative practices/nominations will be documented and placed on and in the monthly print magazines: egov, Digital Learning, Telecentre, eHealth.
    • eINDIA 2009 organisers reserves the right to use all or part of any material projects/programmes, photographs, submissions or any details) generated for the purpose of this Award for any publicity campaign related to education technology.
    • eINDIA 2009 organisers reserves the right not to make an award in case the nominations received are not found fit enough in terms of quality and quantity.

    Important Notice:

    • In case of a tie, the organisers reserve the right to decide the winner.
    • Any dispute will be settled under the jurisdiction of National Capital Territory of Delhi.
