eINDIA Governance Summit 2012

  • HE Mr Freddy SavneExploring Emerging Models of Governance and ICT

    e-Governance is in essence, the application of Information and communications technology to government functioning in order to create smart governance. e-Governance in India has steadily evolved from computerization of Government Departments to initiatives that encapsulate the finer points of Governance, such as citizen centricity, inclusion, service orientation and transparency. ICTs are furthering the penetration of effective and decentralized governance.

    We are happy to announce the 8th egov India 2012, a seminal thematic track conference on governance and ICT organized as part of the eIndia 2012 Conference, Exhibition & Awards.

    The previous seven editions of egov India conferences have received overwhelming support from key ministries like, the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Human Resource Development and the Ministry of Panchayati Raj and several state government departments.

    The focus of the egov India 2012 track conference is on the way the different stakeholders interact when introducing ICTs in governance systems and the way these interactions affect institutions and communities, and the related decisionmaking process.

    This specialized track conference will specifically look into some important issues:

    1) the changes produced by ICTs on the governance processes, (e.g. regulatory and legal frameworks, organisational and administrative procedures, roles of various stakeholders involved, etc.) and consequently the effects on decision- making, public management and service delivery;

    2) the socio-economic implications at policy level; and

    3) key issues, challenges and innovations fueling the furtherance of e-Governance in the country.
